Artisan Development Program: ODA's Initiative with NIFT

ODA Promotes Artisan Development through Education and Skill-Building. The All Odisha Designers Association (ODA) has been working tirelessly to promote artisans across Odisha. Through its initiatives, ODA aims to enhance artisans' technical skills, design thinking and financial growth. Recently, ODA collaborated with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to provide artisans with training and education. Artisans from various districts in Odisha participated in the program. All participating artisans will receive a participation certificate from NIFT.

We extend our gratitude to Mr. Rajesh Kumar Jha, Director of NIFT, Bhubaneswar. Special thanks to Mr. D. Harish Rajiv, Assistant Professor and Nodal Officer-Admission. We also appreciate the support of Ms. Sususmita Behera, Associate Professor, Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in ODA's efforts to empower artisans in Odisha.

Recognizing Mastercraftsmen: Artisan ID Cards Distributed to 7 Deserving Artisans

All Odisha Designers Association has successfully distributed Artisan ID Cards, issued by the DC(Handicrafts), Bhubaneswar, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India to seven talented artisans from Antia village in Jajpur District on 11th August 2024.

Congratulations to all seven artisans on this remarkable achievement! This ID card is a testament to your exceptional skills and dedication to your craft. We are honored to support your growth and recognition.

Empowering Artisans

The All Odisha Designers Association organized a meeting titled "Empowering Artisans" with 45 artisans of Cane and Bamboo craft from Palli village in Jagatsinghpur district. The meeting aimed to discuss the development and empowerment of artisans in the region. The meeting was attended by Designers, including Bhupesh Kumar Jena (Designer and Artist), Sushmita Minz (Fashion Designer), and Mamata Mallick (MCM/MCP), who shared their expertise and insights on the subject.

The key highlight of the meeting was the discussion on Artisans ID card.

Additionally, the meeting also focused on various points for the development of artisans, including skill enhancement, market exposure, and financial literacy. Bhupesh Kumar Jena stressed the need for preserving traditional art forms and techniques while also adapting to modern trends to appeal to a wider audience. Sushmita Minz shared insights on how artisans could incorporate their craftsmanship into contemporary fashion and lifestyle products, thus broadening their market reach. Mamata Mallick provided valuable inputs on the need for financial management and planning for the artisans to ensure sustainable livelihoods. She highlighted the importance of capacity building and entrepreneurship skills for the artisans to thrive in a competitive market.

All Odisha Designers Association organized a meeting titled "Empowering Artisans". The meeting was attended by 50 artisans from Thailo village in Jagatsinghpur district, Balikuda block. The focus of the meeting was to discuss the development of the artisans and how they can be empowered in their craft of Goldengrass.Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the success of this meeting.

The beauty and charm of paper machIe crafts has been a source of attraction for craft lovers and tourists.so keeping in mind a oneday meeting organized by ODA, with sincere presence of Mr Arun Ojha(Master craftsman), Artisan Jasoda Nayak, ODA President Himanshu sekhar parida and Executive member Shree Bhupesh Ku. Jena at Barigaon , Keonjhar dist famous for production of paper machie crafts by local skilled artisans on 26th May 2022 successfully. we tried our best to solve out some matters related to their crafts and committed to bring their performance level upto standard to meet local and global market .also we provided them artisan I-cards to everyone. Training for progressment of crafts planned to be held soon .
